BHUBANESWAR: To make the education system more informative, the school and mass education department will launch a dedicated website under its ambitious Mo School Abhiyan to provide information on state-run schools.
"This will be a one-of-its-kind portal where information on all state-run schools will be made available. The data collection is on and we are planning to launch the portal by the middle of July," said Rashmi Ranjan Sahoo, officer on special duty for the Mo School Abhiyan.
The school and mass education department has already started collecting data on schools and asked its education officers at the district-level to complete the task.
The portal will have detailed information on class-wise teachers' and students' strength, past performance of the school, location, year and history of establishment, achievements of the alumni, contact information of teaching and non-teaching staff, messages from headmaster and civil and non-civil infrastructure, among others.
Rashmi said the aim was to bring transparency in the system and help students with information on schools they are studying in or going to study in. "The new portal will help the public as well as the state administration to keep tabs on schools," the officer added.

The school and mass education department said there were 37,369 primary schools, 20,783 upper primary schools and 9,519 high schools in the state. "We have planned to cover all kinds of schools, be it rural or urban," Rashmi said.
Educationist Basant Sahoo said the state administration's move was good. "The practice was already available in private facilities, but there was nothing on government schools. This will benefit all," he added.
