Kolkata: Hearing and speech impaired Assam man reunited with father thanks to social media

KOLKATA: A 26-year-old hearing and speech disabled man, who had gone missing from his home in Assam and somehow reached Kolkata was rescued by the police who used social media platforms to find his address and reunited him with his family on Sunday.
With the help of a trained interpreter, police managed to identify the youth as Rebokanta Nayak from Jorhat district in Assam. He was spotted at Ramlila Garden in Sinthee on June 27. The youth was admitted a hospital.
Police then posted his photograph and sketches on their Facebook page tagging Assam Police’s social media handles.

Meanwhile, a friend of Nayak identified his photo and contacted the Sinthee police. He said Nayak was a resident of Hemlai tea estate at Jorhat in Assam and that he had been missing from his home since June 19.
The friend also contacted Nayak’s family and on Sunday, his father Manglu Nayak reached to Kolkata and met the police officials who reunited him with his son.
