NEW DELHI: An Air India Express had a tail strike while landing in Calicut on Monday morning. The Boeing 737, with nearly 190 people on board and flying in from Dammam as IX 382, came to a stop safely after the tail strike and the airline says no one on board was hurt.

“There was a tail strike on landing. The aircraft has been checked thoroughly and there was no damage. The plane is now being released to operate a flight to Sharjah,” an AI Express spokesman said.

This is the second incident involving AI Express flights in two days. On Sunday evening, the airline’s Dubai-Mangalore flight with 189 people on board had veered off the taxiway after landing at the destination.

The Boeing 737’s nose got stuck in kutcha ground and passengers safely disembarked from the plane. Operations at Mangalore airport were affected for some time after this incident happened.
