Kanpur: The district administration on Monday directed the officials to lodge FIRs against those grabbing government
land and send them to jail.
Addressing a review meeting, district magistrate (DM) Vijay Vishwas Pant told the officials to launch a comprehensive campaign against big land sharks, free government land from their possession and sent them to jail.
He also asked the officials of various government departments to prepare a list of illegal possessions on their lands and take action against the encroachers.
In a specific direction to KDA officials, the DM asked them to fence the land which was cleared from encroachers and lodge FIR against habitual trespassers and encroachers.
Pant also directed lodging of FIRs against those who had prepared forged documents and sold government land.
The DM said he had received several complaints of illegal possession on Awas Vikas land. When Awas Vikas officials told him that there were no such incidents, the DM constituted a committee headed by additional district magistrate (finance & revenue) to look into the matter.
The DM also ordered stern action against those illegally occupying government graze-yards, ponds, chak road, barren land and gram samaj land.
He directed the ADM (finance & revenue) to prepare a list in a couple of days depicting how much land was to be vacated from land grabbers and what action would be taken.
Besides SSP Anant Deo, CDO Akshay Tripathi, ADM (finance & revenue) Virendra Pathak, SDMs of Sadar, Bilhaur, Narval and officials of irrigation department, KDA and Awas Vikas were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, over seven kilograms of prohibited polythene was seized by official teams on Monday and a penalty of Rs 8,000 was realized.
