Neet counselling delay leaves aspirants in lurch

NEW DELHI: After keeping aspirants on tenterhooks for five days, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) announced allotment of undergraduate medical seats under the 15% all-India quota on the basis of NEET-2019 late Monday night.
The timing of announcement of the results of the first round of counselling kept changing through the day on Monday — first from 11am to 6pm and then from 6pm to 10pm and then 11pm.
As per the new schedule, the provisional date for seat allotment was given as July 1 and reporting period between July 1-6.

Based on first schedule when the allotment were expected on June 27, many candidates had booked their tickets and made arrangements for accommodation in places where they hoped to get admission and now remain stranded.
When contacted, Dr B Srinivas, ADG, MCC, said results will be announced “soon” without giving any reason for the delay.
