Cyclist dies in crash in Melbourne's north-west
A cyclist has died after being hit by a car in Melbourne's north-west in the early hours of Monday morning.
The man, who has yet to be formally identified, died at the scene after he was hit by a Holden sedan on Westwood Drive in Burnside Heights about 12.20am.
The 20-year-old driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping police.
The cause is yet to be determined, and police are searching for the driver of a light coloured hatch-back who is believed to have witnessed the crash.
Westwood Drive has been closed between Tenterfield Drive and Fydler Avenue while the scene is being examined.
The tragic start to the winter school holidays brings this year's road toll to 157, which is 57 more than at the same time last year.
