CHENNAI:
PMK leader
S Ramadoss on Monday urged the central government to announce in the ensuing budget a cut in the taxes of those who are earning between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh.
Ramadoss stated that it had been a long-pending demand of the salaried taxpayers, who were working in private sectors, to increase the
taxable income limit.
During the interim budget, the NDA government exempted taxes for people earning up to Rs 5 lakh. However, it did not give any relief to people earning between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. Hence, the PMK leader urged the government to bring down such salaries people’s taxes from 20% to 10% or 5 %.
In a statement, he also urged the Narendra Modi government to increase the fund allocation for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and increase the number of working days from 100 to 150 in drought-hit districts.
