Majak Daw to return to football this weekend
North Melbourne have confirmed that Majak Daw will return to football in the VFL this weekend.
Daw will spend limited time on the field in his comeback match, which caps a remarkable recovery from severe injuries sustained in a fall from the Bolte Bridge last December.
Daw will play for the Kangaroos' VFL team against Sandringham at the club's Arden St headquarters on Sunday morning.
The 28-year-old will play in defence, where he excelled in 2018 and established himself as one of the game's most productive tall defenders.
Daw sustained fractures to his pelvis and his recovery has surprised the club, which had no expectation of whether he would make it back to the football field.
North has been entirely focused on his welfare.
His return raises the possibility that Daw could play senior football this year, although the club will be conservative and has never suggested that this was a priority.
Daw's comeback has raised spirits at Arden St, where caretaker coach Rhyce Shaw has rejuvenated the team since the departure of long term coach Brad Scott.
Daw and Shaw will front the media at 3.30pm today.
