Challans pending for yrs, but cops fail to stop ministers V Srinivas Goud, Malla Reddy

HYDERABAD: Days after GHMC commissioner Dana Kishore was forced to clear pending traffic challans, it came to light that Telangana minister V Srinivas Goud and his wife’s vehicles have accumulated 55 challans for various traffic rule violations since 2016, while his cabinet colleague Ch Malla Reddy has eight pending challans since July 2018. A vehicle registered in the name of Telangana principal chief conservator of forest had pending traffic challans since 2016 too.
If a lay vehicle owner has a pending challan and is caught by traffic policemen during enforcement drive, they simply ‘seize’ the vehicle and release it only after the penalty is paid. But the same, it appears, is not done for politicians and government officials.

Prohibition & excise, sports and youth services minister V Srinivas Goud’s vehicles, including his wife’s car, had violated traffic rules in all the three commissionerates in the city and some of the offences date back to 2016.
The TRS leader’s vehicle was never ‘seized’ despite having pending traffic challans worth Rs 46,535.
Of the 41 challans, 36 were for speeding and dangerous driving, while remaining five were for violations such as wrong parking and tinted glass. Most violations were found to have been committed under the Cyberabad traffic police limits. According to the traffic police data, 16 violations took place near Chennama Hotel in the jurisdiction of the Rajendra Nagar traffic police, while seven violations took place under Himayatsagar, Harshaguda and Annapurna X Road under the jurisdiction of the Shamshabad traffic police.
Similarly, 14 traffic challans, worth Rs 16,390, were pending against the minister’s wife V Sharada's vehicle since June 2017. Of them, 13 were for speeding and one for an improper number plate.
“Whenever a challan is generated, an SMS is sent to the vehicle owner’s phone number, while a print-out of the violation is also sent to his/her address. When there are too many challans pending against a vehicle, our teams contact the vehicle owner asking them to clear the penalties as part of the standard operating procedure regardless of who they are,” Cyberabad DCP (traffic) SM Vijay Kumar.
Eight challans, worth Rs 7,380, were found pending against labour, women and child development minister Ch Malla Reddy since July 2018.
“If the vehicle is caught during checks, the violators are asked to clear the pending challans on the spot. If a vehicle has over 10 traffic challan, it is considered top violator,” Rachakonda DCP (Traffic) Tajuddin Ahmed.

“Principal chief conservator of forest Telangana vehicle challans are pending since Sept 2016 amounting to Rs12,000. Who will pay this pending challan money, What is @hydcitypolice & @HYDTP doing, laws are only meant for common people. @KTRTRS @TelanganaDGP,” Amjed Ullah Khan of MBT tweeted recently along with a screenshot of the pending challans worth Rs 11,955.
A campaign has also started on social media to name and shame the high and mighty about their pending challans and GHMC commissioner Dana Kishore was forced to cough up over Rs 6,000 to clear traffic challans.
