ALLAHABAD: The
Allahabad-Jaipur express, the daily train operating between the two cities completed 12 years of its operations on Monday. To commemorate the anniversary of this train, Allahabad division of North Central Railways have upgraded number of facilities in the train.
Public relation officer (PRO), Allahabad division, SK Gupta said, “This train was started as Allahabad-Mathura express on July 01, 2007 and was extended up to Jaipur on October 01, 2013. Under project ‘Utkrisht’ the entire rake of this train has been upgraded following which the train is not only looking more attractive but passengers are being provided by different modern amenities”.
Among other facilities, railways have enhanced the number of coaches. Presently, the train consists of 14 coaches which would now be of a total of 22 coaches.
“To mark the anniversary of the train and under project Utkrisht, the doorway area and toilets of all coaches of the train have been furnished with Vinyl graphic films along with epoxy flooring in coach toilets which would help keep the toilets cleaner,” said Gupta.
Along with this, the unified instruction notice board, vinyl printed time table, framed sceneries, automatic odour control in air conditioned coaches and auto janitor in toilets have been provided in the coaches, he informed.
Scrapper mating in toilets, grass mats between toilets, hollow mats galleries of the AC’s coaches has been done. “Along with the upgraded toilets, all the lights in the trains are now replaced by LED lights,” said the PRO.
For the convenience of passengers, a clock has been provided in the first class air-conditioned coach's cabin and matting has been done in all the AC coaches. Two GPS display board will be provided in each AC coach, in which the train's time-table, arrival station, train speed and temperature will be displayed.
“To add to the facilities in the train, the train would soon be fitted with free Wi-Fi based infotainment facility, initially it would be only in AC coaches but later, it can be extended for all coaches,” said Gupta. He added that for the differently abled passengers, the provision of RO drinking water would be provided so that the passengers will not have to get down from train time and again for drinking water.
“We have also planned to install tea/coffee/soup vending machine at one of the air-conditioned coach and the same could be provided to other coaches, depending on the response,” he said.
Besides, in order to facilitate the passengers, a pre-recorded announcement system has been arranged in the washroom so that the passengers can be made aware of proper use of bio-toilet. For easy movement of passenger inside the coach, retro reflective tapes have been installed. Moving forward with the vision of “clean rail clean India”, provision of automatic safety toilet seat cover has been made in western toilets of the train coaches. Provision of new linen set through linen baskets for first AC passengers has been made, as well as mink blanket are also provided, said the PRO.
