CHANDIGARH: The traffic police have placed barricades near some of the busy light points and roundabouts to separate buses from other traffic in order to ease congestion on the roads.
Police had received complaints that drivers of different roadways buses were stopping their vehicles haphazardly at the light points on their Facebook page and Twitter account. Cops have now marked the lane for the buses to pick and drop passengers at the housing board light point, Kisan Bhawan chowk and Industrial Area, Phase I and Sector 31 roundabout towards Zirakpur. Police said more bus bays would be set up at other parts light points and roundabouts of the city in the coming days if required.
People are appreciating the steps taken by the traffic police by posting comments on the Twitter handle of traffic police and SSP (traffic) Shashank Anand.

Akhil Mahajan, a chartered accountant, wrote "Just saw the bus management deviation mechanism at the housing board light point and other points in city, thanks for listening to us."
Recently, the traffic police have taken various steps to avoid accidents and ease the congestion on the roads. Traffic police have installed drums and traffic cones at poultry farm chowk, iron market chowk, sector 2-3-10-11 roundabout, old barricade chowk, Batra Chowk, press light point, Sector 16-17 light point, and Sector 25-38 intersection among others.
