Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Azgaonkar on Monday said the state government will consider giving in-principle approval to ‘Sunburn Klassique’ to hold electronic dance music festival in the state in December, this year.

“’Sunburn Klassique’ is planning to hold a music festival in Goa. I have given instructions to officials to start the process.  We will grant them in-principle approval so that they can go ahead with the initial preparations.  Later, the state-level permission committee will take a final call,” Azgaonkar said while interacting with media persons at the state assembly complex.

‘Sunburn Klassique’ is a franchise of Sunburn-Percept Group, and is   promoted by a Goa-based entrepreneur.

Azgaonkar, who holds the tourism portfolio, clarified that the permission will be given only to ‘Sunburn Klassique’, adding that the government will not entertain the promoters of ‘Sunburn’ as they owe money to the government.

When brought to the notice of the minister that the ‘Sunburn’ promoters have already announced dates for holding the three-day music fiesta in December, he stood his ground maintaining  that “we are not giving permission to ‘Sunburn’ to host the festival till they clear the outstanding dues.”
