Vadodara: City-based NGO Paryavaran Suraksha Samiti (PSS) has sought a report from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project which the later had prepared after its visits to Gujarat and Maharashtra in December and January this year.
The organisation has approached JICA after it recently received a letter from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) stating that the “document is JICA’s property and it may be obtained directly from it”.
NHSRCL is a joint sector company of government of India and participating state governments formed for implementation of high speed train corridor project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
Environment activists had approached NHSRCL seeking a report from the officials on ways it will address concerns of project affected people over alleged violation of JICA guidelines in land acquisition process.
“It is strange that our own government is not responding to the concerns of project affected people. Instead, it wants us to approach JICA even as the later has already submitted its report to NHSRCL, government of India and government of Japan,” said environment activist Rohit Prajapati of PSS.
