"You want a tax credit, or do you want to have street credit?" Schwarzenegger asks one man.
The videos are part of Veloz's "Electric for All" program, which counts General Motors, BMW and Honda among its sponsors. The video campaign is scheduled to run for six months and is aimed primarily at California, the nation's top EV market.
One couple tells Schwarzenegger they want an EV, and he drives onto the lot in a Hummer and obnoxiously revs the engine while they cough in a cloud of exhaust.
"You know that the planet is too crowded right now, right?" Schwarzenegger tells another shopper. "Gasoline cars create pollution, and it curbs population. It brings it down. That is the idea."
When a woman test driving a Nissan Leaf with her kids says she loves how quiet it is, Schwarzenegger, from the back seat, replies: "But that's the problem, you see? Because it's so quiet that you hear literally everything that your family says. Think about that for a second."
