RAJKOT: A financial dispute resulted in a murder of a man who was stabbed to death in Bedipara locality of Rajkot on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Satish Todia (26), a resident of Shramjivi Society in Bedipara, and the accused as Rajesh Chawda, a resident of Manharpara locality in Rajkot.

Police said that Todia had lent Rs 35,000 to Chawda. On the night, Todia was invited to his neighbour’s house for dinner. However, he told his host Jitu Karetha that he would be back in sometime after recovering money from Chawda. He returned to Karetha’s house at midnight and had barely sat for dinner, when Chawda barged into the house, brandishing a knife and stabbed Todia in his ribs. When Karetha intervened, she too was stabbed in her thigh.
“Then Todia ran out of the house and Chawda ran after him. Chawda caught him near Shramjivi Society and dealt him several stabbing wounds, killing him on the spot,” said B T Vadhia, inspector with Thorala police station, who also holds the charge of Aji Dam police station. Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for Chawda who has been booked on a complaint by Karetha.
