Child stamping case: NCPCR seeks compliance report

Ludhiana: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sought compliance report by Friday from deputy commissioner Pardeep Aggarwal on the May 25 incident in which a school principal had stamped a boy on his arm for failing to pay fee.
The fresh communique issued to the DC on June 28 stated that the commission has not received any response. While seeking report with supporting documents within seven days, it mentioned that in case of non-compliance, the panel would take action as per provisions under Section 14 of the CPCR Act, 2005.
The panel had on May 29 taken suo motu cognizance of the incident and sought an action-taken report within 10 days of the receipt of the letter.
The principal had stamped a Class VII student on his arm after his exam for not paying his monthly fee. Subsequently, the issue was brought to the notice of the commission.
The NCPCR under Section 13 (1) G of CPCR Act, 2005, inquires into complaints and takes suo motu cognizance in relation to deprivation and violation of child rights.
State panel summons principal

Punjab State Human Rights Commission, which too had taken note of the TOI report on the incident, has summoned the school principal on July 17.
The commission, comprising chairperson Justice Iqbal Ahmed Ansari, members Justice Ashutosh Mohunta and Avinash Kaur, has also sought a report from the director general school education, department of school education, Mohali, on July 17.
