Woman poisons two kids, daughter dies

SURAT: A 35-year-old woman attempted suicide after giving a poisonous substance to her two children at Laskana located on the outskirts of the city on Sunday. Her 11-year-old daughter died during treatment while the woman and her eight-year-old son are reported to be in a critical condition in a hospital.
Mamta Nisad consumed a poisonous substance probably pesticide and also gave them to daughter Roshni and son Pavan in their house at Vipul Nagar when her husband Amarsinh went out. They were found lying unconscious by neighbours who immediately alerted 108 ambulance service. The victims were shifted to a private hospital where Roshni died.
“The mother and son are unconscious. We will register their statements once they regain consciousness,” said a police officer.

Preliminary investigation by police revealed that the couple had disputes over several issues and used to fight frequently for the past few months. The couple had an argument on Sunday as well after which the woman’s husband left the home angrily.
Mamta ran a tea stall while her husband was an icecream vendor. They are natives of Bihar. Amarsinh’s business was not doing well for the past few days because of rain. Police were registering statements of neighbours and relatives to know about the disputes between the couple.
