BMW Motorrad S 1000 RR – What you need to know
The BMW S 1000 RR is considered to be the thoroughbred amongst superbikes. Everything about it highlights the passion that this machine embodies including its design. The RR boasts of a sharp design that is sleek and extremely sporty. The standard LED headlights lend the bike an aggressive look and its stance further accentuates the bike’s dynamic appeal. The S 1000 RR carries balanced proportions with the mass concentrated between the wheels which adds to its muscular looks. The slim rear points towards the bike’s handling prowess and the sculpted fuel tank completes the package.
The bike also comes with a multifunctional instrument panel that allows the rider to access three Core Ride screens as well as other vital information. You also get quick access to vehicle telematics as well as connectivity functions.
Powering the BMW S 1000 RR is an all-new 4-cylinder in-line engine that displaces 999cc. This engine is 4 kilograms lighter than its predecessor and more compact in nature as well which has played a vital role in further improving the handling and ergonomics of the new S 1000 RR. This new engine puts out a solid 207 horsepower at 13,500 rpm! Further to that, the bike is equipped with BMW’s ShiftCam Technology which allows for variable camshaft control thus improving ridability at low and mid speeds as well.

This includes a new Flex Frame which has allowed for better aerodynamics while keeping the overall weight of the bike low. The new frame also allows for a leaner fuel tank and seating area which has improved support and knee grip.
The S 1000 RR also boasts of a newly developed suspension system that offers enhanced riding dynamics and you also get four riding modes if you wish to use the RR in varied conditions such as Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race. You also get Riding Mode Pro as an option that gives you three additional riding modes all for the track. These modes allow you to tweak engine throttle response, engine brake, traction control, wheelie-control, ABS and ABS Pro as well as Launch Control for those perfect starts! Yes, this bike is built for the track and comes fully equipped to deal with that end of business!
Safety features of the BMW Motorrad S 1000 RR include ABS Pro and dynamic traction control. DDC or dynamic damping control is part of the optional pack and this essentially adjusts the electronic chassis to the riding conditions within milliseconds.
BMW Motorrad is offering the S 1000 RR in three variants that include the Standard, Pro and M Sport. The new M package obviously looks the hottest and it gets carbon fibre wheels, a lightweight battery and an M Sport seat. The Dynamic package that buyers can opt for also includes DDC, heated grips and cruise control functions.
