LUDHIANA: The special task force arrested a drug smuggler, accused of running a drug nexus inside and outside Punjab for more than a decade,with 500gm
heroin worth Rs 2.5 cr in the international market, on Friday evening. According to STF officials, arresting this accused was the toughest thing as he never came forward for any deal and ran the nexus with a 10-member team, of which four had already been arrested by Ludhiana STF.
The arrested accused has been identified as Raj Singh, (48) of Fatehwal village of Ferozepur district. On May 30, 2018, the STF had arrested Gurmej Singh and Partap Singh with 5kg heroin and registered a case at Meharban police station. On the information provided by the accused, the STF had arrested two others, including Makhan Singh and Chan Singh, on June 2, 2017, and seized 2kg heroin. Later, the STF came to know that these four accused were working for Raj. He was nominated in the case and later he was declared a proclaimed offender in October 2018.
