Chandigarh: Vehicle-lifters' gang busted, seven stolen two-wheelers recovered

The accused were produced before a local court, which sent them to judicial custody
CHANDIGARH: The UT police have busted a gang of vehicle lifters with the arrest of two persons on Friday. Police claimed to recover seven stolen vehicles from their possession. Police produced both the accused before a local court which sent them to judicial custody.
Mauli Jagran police said the accused have been identified as Balwinder singh alias Golu, 19, a resident of Panchkula and Sharik, 23, resident of Manimajra.
Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Mauli jagran had reported that his motorcycle was stolen by some unknown persons near his residence. Police registered the case and started investigation.

During the course of investigation, Mauli Jagarn police got a secret information that the accused were going towards Panchkula on stolen motorcycle. On this secret information, a team headed by SI Rohtash Kumar, laid a checkpost near Raipur Kallan village and as the accused reached on the stolen motorcycle, cops nabbed them. Police seized the bike and during interrogation, cops recovered four more motorcycles and two Activa scooters from their possession.
Police said both the accused are drug addicts and used to steal vehicles for joyrides.
