AHMEDABAD: Drivers working for cab aggregator apps are expected to continue their ongoing strike. Representatives of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Radio Cab Owners' Association said drivers affiliated with cab aggregator companies Uber and Ola are on strike, to press their demands such as standardization of fare and removal of the recent access fee imposed on them at the Kalupur railway station. A group of 50 drivers held a demonstration in Gandhinagar on Saturday.
With most of the 6,000-odd such cabs are off the road, regular users are having a torrid time. Rushiraj Patel, a city-based consultant said, "If there is a strike called, I end up paying much more than normal, due to surge pricing practice of these companies." He added, "In the last couple of days, drivers have accepted bookings and then not showed up, forcing me bear the cancellation charges. The customer service is unresponsive when seeking refund."
