PM retweets Australian PM’s selfie missive, says ‘Mate, I am stoked’

“Mate, I’m stoked about the energy of our bilateral relationship,” – was how an enthusiastic Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to a selfie tweet from his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison.

The Australian Prime Minister Morison tweeted a selfie snap with Prime Minister Modi at the G20 Summit here and wrote “Kithana acha he Modi! G20 Summit”.

Australia too like India had elections lately wherein Mr Morrison’s party came victorious.

Both the leaders had bilateral meeting here on Saturday on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.

“Had a wonderful meeting with PM Scott Morrison. The deliberations today will add vigour to India-Australia ties and lead to new areas of bilateral cooperation,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

In his opening remarks, Mr Modi said he was thankful to Mr Morrison for his congratulatory message after recent elections in India.

PM Modi also complimented Mr Morrison for his poll win and referring to the ‘selfie tweet’ with a Hindi message said it has really gone ‘viral’.

On the micro blogging site, several missives came in shortly reacting to the selfie-tweet from the Australian Prime Minister.

“Nice one!.. Want to see both watching Australia Vs India final in Cricket WC2019,” – went one message.

Another Twitter missive said – “Bahut accha hai Modi. On this note, I hope Australian team will not trouble India in cricket World Cup. In return we are ready to support Ash Barty in Wimbledon”.

Ashleigh Barty is a high ranking Australian professional tennis player and also a former cricketer.
