Round Table India dedicates 3 classrooms to government middle school

CHANDIGARH: Round Table India, an NGO today dedicated three classrooms to Government Middle School in Sector 21 Panchkula. The classrooms have been constructed with a cost of Rs 14 lakh.
The NGO had last year distributed school bags and notebooks to the underprivileged students at Government Middle School in Sector 21 here. During the year, CRT has constructed 10 classrooms in the region, which include 3 in Sec 21 Panchkula, 3 in Government Sr Sec school Baddi and 4 in Khumna in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Captain Viraat Kaushal, Chairman of Chandigarh chapter 216 of Round Table india was present on the occasion. Capt. Kaushal said, Government Middle School Panchkula has a strength of 380 underprivileged children out of which 205 are male and 175 females in the age group of 11-14 years of age, and the classroom to student ratio was 1:120 whereas ideally it should be much less.
As a result, the children had to either sit on the corridor floor or in the open ground to study. We wanted to build 3 new classrooms for these underprivileged children at this school so as to bring this ratio in the correct proportions. By coming forward for this noble cause we can directly affect the lives of these children in giving them the required infrastructure and a better chance to become educated and responsible citizens of our country, he added.
