Manhunt on for absconding suspect

Two women were found murdered at their rented accommodation in south-east Delhi’s Jaitpur on Thursday morning, the police said.

One of the woman’s husband is a prime suspect, they said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal said Kismat and Zabna were in their mid-30s.

The police said they received a PCR call at 11.25 a.m. regarding a foul smell coming from a room in Saurav Vihar.

“We were told that the tenant has not returned since Wednesday,” Mr. Biswal said.

On reaching the spot, Kismat and Zabna were found dead with clothes tied around their neck. It is suspected that they were strangulated, the police said.

The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death, they said.

‘Married both women’

Preliminary investigation revealed that the women were living with a man, who had told the locals that he had married both the women.

A 12-year-old son of one of the victims also stayed with the family.

“The locals said the family members used to fight a lot. It has also been revealed that the husband was last seen around 11 a.m. on Wednesday. He is a labourer,” Mr. Biswal said, adding that Kismat was his legally wedded wife.

A case has been registered under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code and teams are looking for the absconding suspect.
