Alva’s student wins silver at Science fair

He was among 1,269 participants from 79 countries

Amogh Narayana, a class 10 student from Alva’s English High School, Moodbidri, has won silver medal at the Genius Olympiad International Science Fair held in the U.S.

A release from Alva’s here said the medal is for his project on application of an eco-friendly weedicide prepared from Kokum fruit extract and soapnut.

This project was among the 1,269 participants from 79 countries in the event held on June 19.

Prior to this global competition, he had participated in IRIS-national fair on November 1, 2017 at New Delhi and was selected to represent India. He represented India at Pittsburgh PA, U.S., on May 12, 2018 and won Broadcom MASTERS international Award for excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

He also participated in IRIS-national fair on December 4, 2018 at New Delhi and won the A.S.M. Material Science Award and Ricoh Sustainable Development Award. He was selected for ISRO-Yuvika as young scientist from Karnataka.

At the Genius Olympiad International, he was given silver medal, certificate and a Kindle pad.

Alva’s Education Foundation chairman M. Mohan Alva and his teachers felicitated Amogh Narayana in the school on Thursday.
