Karnataka: Flouted traffic rules? Pay more from today

Pay Rs 1,000 fine if you’re caught using cellphone while driving
BENGALURU: The Karnataka government has effected an increase in penalty amounts for key traffic offences - using mobile phone while driving, parking violations and overspeeding, among others - and the revised fine regime comes into force across the state on Friday.

The quantum of increase in penalty is the steepest for talking on cellphone while driving or riding. It used to be Rs 100 earlier; now it makes you poorer by Rs 1,000. Parking in non-designated areas, too, has seen a similar rise in penalties.
Traffic police will launch a drive on Friday to create awareness among riders on revised penalties.
