The infamous Milan subway in Mumbai's Andheri suburb turned into a river, like it does every year when heavy rain hits the city. Visuals from Andheri showed waist high currents flowing into the Milan subway making it unusable for vehicles.

A woman got stuck in the subway and had to be rescued by locals present in the area. A video of the incident showed a man on a ledge near the subway's roof lying down and pulling the woman up.

Two other men are seen standing below helping the woman scamper up the sides of the subway to reach a safe, dry spot. Later, the woman, who is from Malaysia and was in Mumbai for the first time, was seen almost in tears.

Mumbai witnessed the season's first bout of heavy rain on Friday morning. The rainfall led to waterlogging in several locations and brought traffic to a standstill on sections of the Western Express Highway and Eastern Express Highway -- Mumbai's two principal arterial roads that link the suburbs to South Mumbai.

Roads leading to the Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were also affected while visibility was hampered at the airport. Local trains -- on both the central and western lines -- too were marginally affected due the rains, with trains running slightly behind schedule.

The weather office predicted that rainfall would continue in Mumbai until Saturday. Moderate rain with heavy showers in some areas was predicted for the city and its suburbs.
