A government school student coached for JEE Mains by members of a ‘social responsibility club’ of National Institute of Technology- Tiruchi (NIT-T) has realised her dream of securing admission in the institution.
G. Jansi of Perambalur district, who was imparted training by members of IGNITTE Club of NIT-T, has bagged a B. Tech Civil Engineering seat this year.
Thanks to the support of NIT-T management, Perambalur district administration and Phoenix NEET Academy, students of government schools are given coaching for competitive examinations by IGNITTE Club.
So far, IGNITTE has succeeded in enabling students of government schools to secure admission in top-notch government colleges in Tamil Nadu. This is the first time a student trained by IGNITTE Club has secured a seat at NIT-T.
Attributing the student’s achievement to a combination of dedication, hard work and perseverance, IGNITTE members say, on their part, they work tirelessly, teaching concepts, clearing doubts, setting practice tests and providing moral support.
Congratulating the IGNITTE team, NIT-T Director Mini Shaji Thomas says G. Jansi ‘s achievement due to the social responsibility initiative is of great significance for the institution.
Since 2016, when IGNITTE was given a head-start by a then first-year-student Sanjeev, who had a zeal for teaching, members of the Club have been teaming up with Phoenix NEET Academy, a group of doctors providing NEET coaching, to bring out the hidden potential in underpriviledged students.
Team members devote their weekends to conducting coaching classes in Perambalur Government High School. The students stay in the college for full-time coaching as the exam approaches.
The club showed impressive results from the very beginning. Thirteen students cleared NEET in 2016 and the number went up to 40 the next year. And two students cleared JEE Main in 2016 and 2017.
IGNITTE has its own online mentoring platform ignitte.org and easy-to-understand YouTube videos.
