Russell Crowe's desperate bid to promote his band Indoor Garden Party on national radio backfired badly this week.
The Gladiator star, 55, was scheduled to appear on WSFM's Jonesy & Amanda on Thursday to discuss his new television series The Loudest Voice, but cancelled at the last minute.
The following day, radio host Amanda Keller, 57, revealed the embarrassing reason why Russell decided to pull the plug on their interview at the eleventh hour.

'He's cancelled. I'll tell you why - he'd only come on to talk about [The Loudest Voice] if we'd play his song,' Amanda said.

Her co-host Brendan 'Jonesy' Jones then remarked that he didn't even know Russell was still making music.
'He wanted us to play it, I didn't want to play it,' Amanda replied, before playing a brief soundbite of the track by Russell's band Indoor Garden Party.

After giving WSFM the cold shoulder, Amanda said that Russell decided to appear on Nova 96.9's Fitzy and Wippa instead, after they had agreed to play his song.
They then aired a short clip from the Fitzy and Wippa interview, in which the Hollywood star took a bizarre swipe at WSFM on air.
Russell had claimed that he cancelled his interview with Jonesy & Amanda because of their 'really bad taste in music'.

Amanda said she was disappointed by Russell's behaviour because the miniseries he is promoting, The Loudest Voice, is a 'fantastic piece of television'.
She also referenced an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, in which Russell repeatedly referred to himself as an 'actor', rather than an 'actor-slash-musician'.
