Gurgaon: A fire safety
app will soon be developed to connect fire stations of all 22 districts of Haryana, including Gurgaon, with the deputy commissioners, superintendents of police and chief medical officers.
If there is a fire anywhere in the state, it will send out an
alert and assistance will be provided immediately.
This was revealed by Haryana urban local bodies minister Kavita Jain at a state-level meeting regarding
fire safety measures held in Panchkula on Thursday. Jain said a total of 102
fire brigade motorcycles have been purchased and made available in all the districts to control fire incidents in crowded areas and narrow streets. “In order to fulfil the shortage of staff in the department, about 1,000 employees have been outsourced and the Haryana Staff Selection Commission has been requisitioned for recruitment to 1,046 regular posts. Apart from this, a requisition has been sent to the Haryana Public Service Commission for the recruitment of fire brigade and assistant fire brigade officers,” she added.
The minister said
GPS systems will be installed in fire brigades so that the location of the fire can be reached at the earliest. She said the system should be online at the fire stations at the district and block level, so that the alert of fire incidents can be flashed immediately. A nodal officer will be appointed at the headquarters level, who will coordinate with fire stations across the state to alert everyone in case of emergencies.
Jain said special attention will be given to fire safety measures while issuing no-objection certificates (NOCs) to multi-storeyed buildings like cinema halls, hospitals and coaching centres. She cautioned officials not to issue NOCs or renewal letters by violating the rules.
Jain has constituted a six-member committee to further strengthen the functioning of the department. The committee includes four fire station officers and two officers at the headquarters level. This committee will submit its suggestions on various aspects in the coming weeks.
