Four Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials were suspended on Thursday after a video of them consuming alcohol and playing cards inside the office with outsiders went viral. They were suspended pending a vigilance inquiry into the incident.
“We do not know when the video was shot. We have suspended them till the inquiry is over, which usually takes more than three months. All of them are lower rank officials,” said Dinesh Mohania, Vice Chairman of DJB.
Nine people, including the person who shot the video, could be seen in the clip. A Board official said that of the nine, four are DJB officials and others outsiders. The incident happened in the Punjabi Bagh zonal revenue office of the DJB after the working hours.
“DJB received the video from public domain. There was no formal complaint. Looking at the nature of the video, strict action has been taken... DJB has zero tolerance against such unprofessional activities in its premises,” a written statement by the DJB said.
In the video, people could be seen drinking beer and asking someone to bring glasses and soda.
