Neetu Solanki was killed in 2011

“The police have failed to deliver justice to our daughter as none of the officers took the case seriously,” alleged parents of Neetu Solanki, who was murdered by her live-in partner Raju Gehlot in 2011.

On Wednesday, Gehlot who had been absconding since 2011, died in a private hospital in Gurugram. He had killed the woman and abandoned her body outside New Delhi Railway Station.

The victim’s father Kartar Singh said the accused managed to evade arrest for eight years in a city adjacent to the Capital. “The police could not trace him,” he said, adding, “It has become easy for criminals to get away by obtaining a fake ID. We did not get justice. We were waiting for the day when Gehlot will get caught. We wanted to see him behind bars, but it never happened.” Gehlot had obtained a fake ID in the name of Rohan Dahiya and was working with an automobile company, the police said.

The police got to know about him after they got a call from the hospital where he was being treated for a liver ailment.

“We rushed to the hospital in Gurugram when the doctors told us that he died in the morning,” said an officer.

‘Request to close case’

The accused was a proclaimed offender and had a bounty of ₹2 lakh on his head.’ “Now, we will submit his death certificate in the court and request to close the case,” added the officer.
