Gurgaon: The district administration on Wednesday proposed to utilise the full potential of existing
Atal seva kendras or common services centres (CSCs) in an attempt to improve Gurgaon’s record in dispensing benefits of around 493
welfare schemes and services of state and central governments. It has announced that all the CSCs that have been non-operational till now will be revived.
“We have received reports on a few centres that they are not functioning to their full capacity, and as a result, service delivery is getting affected adversely. We are trying to revive these centres and use their full potential to ensure that benefits of government schemes and services are availed by everyone,” deputy commissioner
Amit Khatri told TOI.
In a meeting convened on Wednesday to take stock of state of affairs in the district, the deputy commissioner underlined the necessity to revive non-functional CSCs to ensure improvement in the last-mile reachability of welfare services. The administration is currently in the process of identifying the centres that need to be revived. So far, around 12 of around 250 centres have been identified as non-functional.
To materialise this vision, the district administration has signed a pact with the state-owned electric utilities company
Power Grid Corporation of India to take necessary steps towards boosting the district’s performance under the Right To Service (
RTS) Act, 2014. Under this agreement, the company will fund around Rs 30 lakh that will be utilised to train about 2,500 candidates in basic
IT skills. According to the district administration, the village-level local CSCs will be used to impart training.
In the same meeting, Khatri noted that while the district’s performance in the Antodya Saral scorecard improved from 4.5 to 6.1, the administration is targeting to score somewhere between 8 and 9 in coming few months.
Earlier this week, TOI had reported that Gurgaon performed the worst in terms of dispensing public welfare services, as per the leadership scorecard maintained by the state government. In the district leadership board that ranked 22 districts based on their scores, Gurgaon stood at the last position.
