A jogger has shared harrowing images of her injuries after she and her pet dog 'Mouse' were viciously mauled by a pack of five dogs in New Zealand's south island.

Larissa Corboy was running with Mouse near Canterbury when the pack of four pit bulls and a mastiff attacked, on Tuesday, Newshub reported.

'Seriously f***** off, since when did going for a run become an extreme sport!?' Ms Corboy wrote on her Facebook page.

'Seeing poor Mouse getting mauled by five dogs is not an image I would like to see again.'

Ms Corboy was jogging along a quiet street when she turned a corner and was confronted by the pack of dogs.

Two of the dogs went straight for Mouse while another bit down on Ms Corboy's behind.

Ms Corboy managed to fight off one dog and tried to pull the others off Mouse, but one bit her ankle and she fell to the ground.

The owner of the five dogs came running and attempted to help.

'I'm just incredibly pissed off that this stupid p**** could let such a thing happen and am seriously going to fight for justice in this matter!' she said.

'He was lucky it was someone fit and able that it happened to and not to someone's kids or a rider on a horse.'

Both Ms Corboy and Mouse required extensive medical attention.

Ms Corboy had chunks torn out of her legs and hand and required surgery. While Mouse, who was covered in blood and bites, also required surgery.

'Both of us are a bit worse for wear ... but it could have been much worse' Ms Corboy said.

'He is obviously a bit tougher than I thought, although I imagine he will be afraid of his own shadow for a while now.'
