₹430 cr. to address water crisis: Minister

Minister for Municipal Administration S.P. Velumani on Wednesday said the government had allocated ₹430 crore to local bodies to address water crisis by undertaking various projects.

Addressing reporters at the airport, he said steps were being taken at a fast phase to bring water to Chennai from Jolarpet, and it would be completed within two to three weeks.

A meeting was held to consider the option of bringing artificial rain in Chennai. However, as such attempts did not provide desired results in the past, further study was being conducted on various options, he said.
