Goa admissions 2019: Process to fill EWS quota seats in professional programs begin

PANAJI: The directorate of technical education in Goa has said admissions to professional degree programmes under the economically weaker sections will take place from July 4. Students from the general as well as the reserved categories have been asked to submit an income certificate from the mamlatdar in their taluka, certifying that their family’s annual income is below Rs Eight lakh a year.
Around 200 seats are to be made available under the EWS quota in Goa.
The DTE has said that students who want to avail the EWS seats should produce income and assets certificate in the specified format from the mamlatdar of their concerned taluka.
The EWS seats can only be availed by those not covered under the other reserved quotas like SCs, STs and OBCs.
“The exact number of seats to be offered to EWS (subject to approval of respective regulatory authority viz UGC/AICTE/MCI/DCI etc) shall be displayed during the admission rounds,” the DTE has said.
Around 200 additional seats are set to be made available to students for the degree programmes in medicine, dentistry, engineering, pharmacy, homeopathy, ayurveda, nursing and allied health programmes in Goa from the academic year 2019-20.
The EWS quota will also be implemented for the diploma seats on offer in the engineering and pharmacy programme, the DTE has said.
