Samsung introduced its first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, at the MWC 2019 event earlier this year. Unfortunately, days ahead of the official launch, the handset was recalled owing to design flaws with the hinge mechanism. Though reports suggest that Samsung had improved the design of the handset with non-removable screen protector and reduced gap, there’s no launch timeline yet. Now, while we wait for the launch, the Galaxy Fold 5G variant has bagged the FCC certification in the USA, according to a leaked document obtained by MySmartPrice. Samsung had applied the Galaxy Fold 5G back on April 25th, and the accreditation from the EMC report was approved on June 3rd.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Fold 4G model supports dual SIM, while the 5G packs a single SIM slot. While the former has a big 4,380mAh battery, the latter settles for a smaller 4,235mAh unit. Apart from these two different, both variants share similar specifications and are identical. With the FCC certification out of the way, the Galaxy Fold launch seems imminent. Samsung Display Vice President confirmed that the design issues “have been ironed out, and the Galaxy Fold is ready to hit the market,” but as said above, there’s still no specific date or timeline yet.
