CHENNAI: Chennai’s
water crisis, which has already become a global topic of discussion, has got the attention of Hollywood actor
Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor shared in his
Instagram account a post about the water crisis and wrote, citing BBC news, “Only
rain can save Chennai from this situation.”
DiCaprio, who is also the United Nations messenger of peace with a special focus on climate change, has written that Chennai is without water and all its four main reservoirs are empty.
"The acute water shortage has forced the city to scramble for urgent solutions and residents have to stand in line for hours to get water from government tanks. As the water levels depleted, hotels and restaurants started to shut down temporarily and the air con was turned off in the city's metro. Officials in the city continue to find alternative sources of water - but the community continue to pray for rain," he has written.
Earlier, the actor had shared some tweets on pollution and garbage problems in India.
