Pune: Rs 1.35 lakh stolen from school's accounts room in Balewadi

PUNE: Unidentified men broke into a private English medium school at Pune's Balewadi and stole Rs 1.35 lakh kept in an accounts room. The theft happened in the early hours of Tuesday.
The principal of the school has lodged an FIR with the Hinjewadi police as the school is located near Shivchhattrapati Sports Complex. "The suspects entered the school building by breaking the lock of the administration room. They took the keys of the accounts room from there," said an officer from the Hinjewadi police.
The suspects then opened the safe and stole the cash Rs 1.35 lakh which was collected after distributing food coupons to the students.
In another theft, the robbers broke into a house at new Sangvi in the early hours of Sunday and made off with cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 1.95 lakh. Owner Samir Modi (35) has lodged an FIR with the Sangvi police.

The police said that the suspects stole Rs 1 lakh and gold ornaments from Modi's house.
Theft happened when Modi had gone out for some work, said the police. "We are checking CCTV footage in the area to ascertain the identity of the suspects," said an officer from the Sangvi police.
