  • A store owner was punched in a vicious robbery by a suspected teenager
  • The victim's husband said the thief made no demands before he struck her
  • Fida Azam was left with a concussion and still has no memory of the event

A thug has punched a female business owner in the face knocking her to the ground before he raided the store in a daring daylight robbery.

The thief made no demands before he brutally assaulted Fida Azam at her Dissmeyer Super Discounters store in New Zealand.

The shocking footage shows the thief and another woman, believed to be teenagers, climbing onto the shop counter before they stole over $2,800 worth of cigarettes.

Mrs Azam regained her composure and ran outside the store and away from the thieves while the other woman with her face partially uncovered helped the violent man.

The attack left her with a concussion and she has still has no recollection of the event.

The brutal attack was recorded by the store's CCTV cameras and obtained by Stuff

'The kids used to come for money but now days they come for cigarettes,' her husband Mohammad Azam told Daily Mail Australia.

'If someone tries to attack us our plan is not to not engage and just back a way but we didn't get a chance,' he said.

Mr Azam said he was quite disturbed by the event and said it was the last thing they have expected.

'No one saw this coming not our community and not our us either.'

'Three to four (o'clock) is the very safe period when school finishes and kids are out and about,' he said.

They have since been forced to put up bars for their own protection as they wouldn't be able to remove cigarettes from sale as they make up a significant part of their business.

Shockingly the enthusiastic co-owner Mrs Azam is keen to come back to work after the attack.

'She is in shock but she is a tough woman and she wants to come back but it is not the right time, shes got a concussion and she kind of forgets things still.'

Posting on Facebook following the attack it was clear the owners were upset.

'Can you help us identify and locate these 2 worthless piece of s***ts,' it said.

'We need your support to stop this kind of behaviour happening in our community.
