Sheena Bora murder case: Not aware how many bones removed, how removed, says witness

Sheena Bora
MUMBAI: A Police Patil from a village in Raigad district deposed in sessions court on Wednesday that he had gone to pluck mangoes from trees on government land, in May 2012 when he found a skeleton and informed police after going home.
A forensic lab later on conducting a DNA test said it belonged to Sheena Bora. Her "biological mother" Indrani Mukerjea, along with her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her present husband Peter Mukerjea, was accused in the case.
Police Patil Ganesh Dhene of Hetevne village was the prosecution's witness number six. A new special public prosecutor Ejaz Khan for CBI, in the murder trial, asked Dhene a few questions. He replied that he had visited the spot again after informing local police. He said a skeleton was lying and local government doctor took it for post mortem. Earlier in 2015 when the murder case was registered against Indrani, her driver Shyamwar Rai, now an approver, and Khanna for allegedly killing Sheena in a car in Mumbai by strangulating her and dumping her body in a forest near Raigad, the remains were exhumed in his presence.
Dhene was cross examined by defence counsels Shrikant Shivade and Sudeep Pasbola representing Peter and Indrani respectively. Peter was not in court as he is still recovering from his heart by-pass surgery for blockages. Indrani and Khanna were present in the court.

Dhene said that the remains were found around 200 feet from a Bapdev temple. In his cross examination by Shivade he admitted that there is no idol or bapdev temple within 200 feet and that such a temple exists about 3km from the spot. When asked, he also said he was not aware how the doctors removed bones from the skeleton and how many were removed and whether they burnt it or not. He said he was not aware what the doctors did or how they took the bones.
Replying to a question, Dhene also admitted that on May 23, 2012 he had filed a complaint with Pen police against "unknown person for killing an unknown person for unknown reasons" and burning the body to destroy evidence. Shivade said that this document should be treated as the FIR in the Sheena Bora murder case. The special CBI court Judge JC Jagdale said it can be decided at the time of final arguments in the trial.
