LUCKNOW: Police cracked the murder mystery of the software firm owner Ashish Goel, who died after falling from the eighth floor of Kalyan Apartments in Indiranagar, by arresting a woman and her accomplice who worked in an escort service on Tuesday.
Police arrested Deepika Vishwakarma aka Annie of Darjeeling, West Bengal, and her partner Furqan aka Samir of Kanpur and booked them for for abetting Ashish’s suicide.
Ghazipur CO, Deepak Kumar Singh told TOI that Ashish came in contact with Annie through an advertisement and became intimate with her.
“Annie lured Goel to visit various tourist places and filmed him in a compromising state with her. She later passed photos and videos to Furqan who started extorting money,” Singh added.
She and Furqan kept extorting money from Ashish till he was drained out. In the last message retrieved from his laptop, Goel wrote that he only Rs 50,000 were left in his bank account and he had no option but to end his life,” the CO said.
During probe, it surfaced that Goel had been in touch with Annie and Furqan for the last one year and they were threatening to post the videos on internet if he did not purchase a flat for them in Kalyan apartments.
On June 3, a day after Ashish died, his father RK Goel, a
rice mill owner had claimed that his son had been murdered. Police had registered a case of murder against unidentified miscreants on his complaint.
