PATNA: The security guards allegedly thrashed the relatives of one Rita Devi (48) who died in the emergency ward of
Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Tuesday. The CCTV footage showed the security guards thrashing the relatives who were creating ruckus in the corridor of the emergency ward.
Hospital administration alleged that the relatives of the deceased were abusing doctors who had treated the patient. They also alleged that the attendants were beating doctors and staff. But the CCTV footage which TOI has got access to showed the guards beating the relatives of the deceased with their canes.
“They were abusing the doctors after the patient died. So we were compelled to use physical force,” said one of the guards. Amit Kumar, incharge of PMCH thana outpost, said no FIR was lodged from either side.
However, the attendants present there complained of rude behaviour of guards who get physical with the attendants for any petty reason.
Meanwhile, Sonia Kumari (18) was admitted to PMCH in a serious condition after a bullet hit her during celebratory firing. Sonia, a dancer by profession, had got injured while performing at a wedding in a village under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district. “She was brought to PMCH at 5am in the morning and is undergoing treatment,” Amit said.
