NOIDA: In a plot resembling the latest Bollywood flick “Gully boy,” a 28-year-woman has complained against her 55-year-old father alleging that the latter wanted her and her husband to vacate the house to accommodate his two new wives.
She has alleged that her father attacked her and abused her after she and her husband refused to leave their parents’ house.
The woman has alleged that her father married a 16-year-old girl soon after her mother’s death in February this year and now wants them to leave the house to accommodate his two new wives.
According to the woman, Jannati Begum, her mother Meera Begum expired on February 2, 2019 and two months after her death, her father Mohammed Shakil Ansari, a shopkeeper, married a 16-year-old girl Shahnaaz soon after.
Ansari, who stays in Behlolpur village of Sector 63 with his daughter and son-in-law, belongs to Bihar’s Purnia where he went to, soon after the death and got married to Shahnaaz.
“We were informed about the wedding only after my father brought Shahnaaz home. He started telling us that we need to move out of the house to make space for her. However, I told him that the marriage has brought disrepute to our family’s name and she should not be brought home,” Jannati told TOI.
In her complaint to the Phase III police, Jannati has written that Ansari has been beating her and abusing her over the matter.
“My mother worked at a company where embroidery is done on clothes. We had bought the plot of land in 2007 for which we contributed around Rs two lakh. Further, we had also given Rs five lakh towards construction of the house,” her husband said.
Jannati alleged that last week, Ansari asked them to move out of the house and claimed to have married another woman, who needed to be accommodated in the house.
“He said that since Shahnaaz was staying in the shop and he had married a third woman, the latter too required to be accommodated in the house and hence, we have to move out,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ansari claimed that he has married only Shahnaaz and not a third woman.
“I said that I would marry a third one because they were not moving out,” he said.
However, police have detained Ansari who has been booked under IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
Sub-inspector Varun Pawar said that the allegations of the woman are being investigated and Ansari would be formally arrested after the same are confirmed.
