GURUGRAM: A city-based
exporter has filed a complaint against a man, who posed as an IPS
officer, and allegedly
cheated the exporter of lakhs. Police are investigating the case and no FIR was registered till the filing of the report.
The complainant told police that he knew the accused for the past two years. “He always identified himself as an
IPS officer and spoke of having contacts in several private companies. As I am in the export business, I asked him to help me expand my business. He assured me that he would fix my meeting with certain high officials. Two months ago, he told me that he had discussed about my business with certain people, who showed interest to work with me,” the exporter said.
The accused allegedly demanded an
SUV from the exporter in exchange of the deal. After getting the SUV, the accused is allegedly untraceable. “He had also asked me to invest Rs 50 lakh in a deal, which has ended up in huge losses for my company,” he added.
According to the police, the description of the accused does not match with any officer. The complainant met police commissioner Mohammad Akil some days ago and was sent to Sector 17/18 police station.
“We are not disclosing the name of accused as we are yet to register the FIR. We are investigating the allegations and will take action once the picture is clear,”said Vivek Kundu, SHO of Sector 17/18 police station.
It may be noted that a fake IPS Sandeep Sharma was arrested on April 4 late night for allegedly thrashing a
Delhi Police constable near Ambiance mall.
