Kharif operations speeded up in eastern Krishna district

The eastern Krishna district witnessed a few spells of rainfall on Wednesday speeding up the kharif operations. Meanwhile, the fisherfolk, who resumed fishing activity two weeks ago, have been advised to keep an eye on the weather conditions.

Gudiwada witnessed the highest rainfall of 65.8 mm, while G. Konduru received 56 mm rainfall. Places such as Vuyyuru, Gannavaram and Kankipadu received a few spells of rainfall bringing respite from the scorching heat conditions prevailed over the past few weeks.

On Wednesday, the Forest Department personnel along with the police closed the Hamsaladeevi beach. In Machilipatnam, the Manginapudi beach was also closed for visitors. The first spells of rainfall bring cheer to the fisherfolk as it is believed it would help them return with a good catch. Those waiting for the direct sowing method of paddy cultivation would intensify the operation.
