Govt driver with no accident history for 20 yrs honoured

Tirupur: The district administration on Monday honoured a driver working at the public relations department for driving the department’s vehicles without causing any accident for the last 20 years.
M Chinnaraj, 55, of Thirumuruganpoondi was working as the driver of a van fitted with giant screen to popularise the government schemes in the district. He started the career at the public relations department in Nilgiris district in 1998 and was transferred to Tirupur in 2009.
Collector KS Palanisamy handed over a four-gram gold medal to Chinnaraj.
Apart from having good discipline including punctuality, a driver should always be careful, Chinnaraj said. “I would always try to ensure that the vehicles are maintained well and check all parameters before starting a journey. Drivers should not lose focus while working,” he added.
