ALLAHABAD: Two wanted
criminals were injured and arrested along with an aide after an encounter with police near
Telgana road early on Monday.
The police seized a 0.32 bore pistol, 0.32 bore country-made pistol, live cartridges and bikes from their possession. Inspector of Bara police station JP Shahi said, “Acting on a tip-off about an inter-state gang of robbers plotting a major crime, a joint team of crime branch, Ghurpur and Bara police reached Telgana road and challenged the criminals.
In the ensuing encounter, two criminals, identified as Umesh Kol and Sumiran Kol, both residents of Ramkuri, were injured. They were admitted to
Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital and their condition is stated to be out of danger.” Umesh and Sumiran were carrying a bounty of Rs 25,000 each on their heads, Shahi said.
Police also arrested another gang member, identified as Fateh Bahadur, a resident of Kaudhiyara. However, one accomplice Sunny Banjara managed to escape.
“A total of 12 criminal cases are pending against Umesh, while Sumiran is wanted in seven cases,” said Shahi.
