A native of Chengannur in Kerala transporting cows to Mathura in Uttar Pradesh was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Delhi.

The relatives of Vikraman of Archana Bhavan, Pandavan Para, have lodged a complaint with the Chengannur police demanding a detailed probe into his death.

As per the complaint, Vikraman left Kattapana in Idukki district with Vechur cattle last week. β€œHe was transporting Vechur cows to be delivered to an ashram in Mathura. He reached Delhi on June 21 and informed his family members that he vomited blood and is being locked up in a room. The next day he called his son, urging him to come to Delhi and the son reached Delhi the next day. When he tried to contact his father by phone, an unknown person answered the call and told him that his father is dead. He was then asked to stay in a hotel near the Delhi airport for handing over the body,” said an official.

Sudhilal M., circle inspector, Chengannur, told The Hindu that they had registered a case based on the complaint. β€œA team led by a police surgeon is currently conducting the postmortem of the body at the Government Medical College Hospital, Alappuzha. We will make further statements after receiving the autopsy report,” he said.
