Call centre staffer dies as car hits bike

MOHALI: A 23-year-old man was killed and two others injured after a car hit their motorcycle in Kharar on Monday.
The victim has been identified as Sahil Sharma. He was riding pillion along with his friends Shubham Kumar (24) and Swatantar Singh (23). Shubham is admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, while Swatantar Singh escaped with minor injuries.
All the three were working in a Mohali-based call centre and returning home when they were allegedly hit by the Maruti Swift car on the intersection of airport road and national highway under the flyover on the Mohali-Kharar highway. Police said eyewitnesses told them that three women got down from the car, locked it and fled.

Police impounded the Swift car and registered an FIR against unknown persons on charges of causing death due to rash and negligent driving.
The body of the victim is kept at the mortuary of the civil hospital, Phase VI, Mohali. The post-mortem will be conducted on Tuesday, police said.
